Original Character Application



Character Rules for Fandom Original Characters:

1) No AU characters. This means you cannot play Lestat as if he'd never been turned into a vampire, Buffy if she'd been the one working for the mayor, or Elle Bishop if she was a mermaid. We really have no idea why you'd want to do that last one.

2) Nothing that contradicts canon. This means no genderswap, long lost relatives or future children by non-canon couples. And definitely no children from same gender couples in canons where that doesn't happen. Jack Harkness could potentially get pregnant. Rodney McKay could not.

3) No future children unless they've already been born in Prideview. This means that Zoe and Wash's babies can be played but the future spawn of Harold and Lucy Saxon cannot as they do not have children. And besides, that child would be the Antichrist, because we all know the Doctor is Jesus, and we have enough of those.

Application rules:

1) You can only apply for an OC once you have two canon characters. And you have to be active with those canon characters. Don't pick up Xander Harris and Harry Potter and do nothing with them just so you can pick up Sally Sensitive.

2) Writing samples are needed for ALL OCs. Yes. Every time. No exceptions. At all. Seriously. We're stricter with OCs, so we want to see what they're going to be like, so we can be sure they won't be Mary Sues. Because those are bad and make baby Jesus (not the Doctor this time) cry.

3) You can only have FIVE OC's. Five. No more, no less. Well, okay, you can have less. But no more. Not six. Not five and a half and don't even ask me how that works. Five. This is starting to feel very Monty Python. We'll stop now.

Severus sat leaning against the train compartment wall, chin in the palm of his hand, staring out the window at the passing scenery. The cheerful sun and clear, blue skies were a cruel mockery of what he was feeling. A book lay open on his lap, but he had no interest in reading it. He, rather, was contemplating all the things he hated at the moment. He hated the happy weather outside, he hated how hungry he felt with no money to purchase anything from the trolley, he hated that the school year was ended, he loathed James and Sirius, of course, but most of all he hated that he was traveling home alone this year.

It should be quite the opposite. Lily should be sitting across from him, laughing about some such or other, making plans for their summer vacation. Instead, Severus sat by himself. There were two other Slytherins in the compartment, fourth years. Lily had passed by, glancing inside as she went, but she hadn't come in. Severus blamed the fourth years; maybe if they'd not been there she would have come in. He thought for a moment of going to track her down, but decided better of it, their last conversation had not gone well.

He stayed where he was, staring out the window.

The weather, hours later and in London was quite the reverse from the train ride home; dark, bluish-gray clouds hung heavy over the roiling city, depositing large, fat drops of rain on the people below.

As always there was no one waiting for him at the station. He knew he would not be able to rely on Lily and her family to assist him in getting home. Instead, he made his way through the barrier to the city street, and he stood in the rain, waiting for a cab to take interest in him, which was a rather long while as they didn't want to deal with an ugly kid.

What's there to know?
A while back I killed some folks, and I went just a little crazy, is that done now I'm back from the dark side? Hell if I know, but I'm here and I have a job to do, real people to protect, to care about, to make things up to. Never had that before, so now I got a point to prove.

I'm a Slayer. I'm not just a Slayer I'm the evil one. Everyone knows this. So what the fuck just happened to me? Werewolves. Way I learned it not a big bad all the time. So we don't kill it.
Then the demonic shit comes down and it turns out that these things have freakin' breeds. There's dogboy and there's what the Winchesters introduced me to. Plain heart eatin' at least partly aware, evil. So, why the fuck couldn't I kill it?
A few years ago I coulda wasted it, just for gettin' in my face now...
This conscience crap is a bitch.

Part 2

Personality: (strengths, weaknesses, general character traits) Jules is physically challenged, no doubt about it, but he makes up for it in mental strength. he has an infinitely positive out look, he's easy going, and creative. He loves life, and feels blessed to be alive, when his entire family was decimated in the fire that left him crippled. He feels he was spared because he had a greater purpose, and his purpose is to teach the youth of America. Oh, and to take care of his lover, jack Dent, who clearly needs a chaperon when out in public XD.

Any psychological problems and the reasons for them: Jules is a calm, easy going guy, despite his disability. He refuses to see himself as disabled, but rather challenged. Obviously he can't climb a mountain, but that doesn't mean he can't find another way to the top.

Still, like any other human, he has ups and downs, good days and bad. There are day she doesn't want to get out of bed, but he generally does. I wouldn't really say he has psychological problems, at this point, but the potential is always there...

Likes: Jack, taking a walk (well, roll) on a warm sunny afternoon, feeding the ducks with Jack on his lap, the color blue, pizza and beer, the laughter of children.
Dislikes: Idiots, stupidity, ignorance, prejudice, the color orange.
Talents or skills:

History: (Please include information about family, friends and economic situation as well as their history.) The family home caught on fire during the night. Julien and his brother Jakob jumped out the second story window of their bedroom. Julien broke his leg, so he couldn't move, but Jake ran back inside to try to help their parents. Jake, the parents, and the baby all succumbed to the fire. Julien was placed in state custody, and received sub par health care, resulting in permanent disfigurement and life in a wheel chair.

Julien spent many years angry and bitter, until a teacher took a shine to him and showed him a better way. The man was such an inspiration to him, and Jules moved in with him (and his wife) once he was legal. Jules followed in his foot steps, choosing to go in to teaching so he might make a difference in the lives of children.

The couple left everything they had to Julien upon their deaths, and by that time Julien was dating fellow teacher Jack Dent. Jack and Jules will be coming to Prideview Apartments together, yes.

His office door was open, inviting any of the kids to come by. Kids or staff, really, though there was one staff member in particular he was interested in. He really shouldn't be thinking about Jack sprawled over his desk, during office hours. It was terribly inappropriate, and yet...Well. He couldn't help it. He liked the image, and he rather thought his poor old desk needed to see some action that wasn't a red pen marking up a student's essay.

He leaned back in his seat, thinking he'd prop his legs up on the desk if he were able. He could, he supposed, but it would be more trouble than it was worth, and probably a little uncomfortable. He sighed and leaned forward instead, resting his elbows on the desk, head in hands, waiting for someone, anyone, to drop by and save him from his self imposed boredom.

Jewels part 2

History: Margot was born in Kentucky, in a city that she'd rather not talk about, she says it's depressing and humiliating. Her parents were okay, and she had too many brothers and sisters because they probably didn't know how to work a condom (no really) not because they didn't believe in abortion. Thankfully her genetics didn't play a big role in her upbringing, and the first chance she got, she left Kentucky. She went to school several states away and as far north as she could get.

During college she slacked off for a year or so, finding out about booze, drugs, boys and girls, sex and everything else college had to offer. She majored in literature but she wasn't much of a writer. She did however edit all of her friends papers. And if you ask, she'll say she slept with the Dean but who knows if that's true. After buckling down and graduating she got hired by a publishing company. Though she was mostly an editor, she got her chance to try being a publisher and she was pretty good at it. With her first check she bought a cat.

A bit later she was transferred over to New York, and she met Tobias Wright and they became friends but she also published his books. It was the first time in a while she had any kind of friend really, she always thought she was much too busy and a pain to have friends. And she even got along with his wife and daughter too. Her love life never really went anywhere, she had flings, but never really boyfriends. No time for those either. When Melinda and Grace died, it all but cemented the fact that she shouldn't get attached to anyone, not imagining being able to go through what Tobias did.

But she stuck by him, wanting him to get better and eventually he did. And now that he's moved to Prideview, she's moved along with him. As long as it's not Kentucky, she'd go wherever he wanted.

First Person Writing Sample: I need new people to go to Walmart with me. I'd ask Tobias but I'm afraid that he might lob an alarm clock at my head if I asked yet again. Why go at 3? I don't know why you'd want to go any other time. No one brings their kids in at 3 am, and if they do it's in the grocery section which I avoid completely. There's no lines, not a lot of parking, I'm up and the people actually in the store are fuck nuts. It's the perfect time to go if you ask me.

Did I mention hi? I'm Margot. I wish I was just Margot with no last name. Then I could say like Cher, or Madonna or Prince but then who wants to be like them?
Third Person Writing Sample: Standing in the aisle, Margot picked up a jar of flavored hummus and looked it over. Ranch flavored? Seriously? Did people just pick flavors out of their ass now? And yet with careful determination, she set the jar in her cart and wheeled it down the rest of the aisle. In said cart was a pack of scented markers, a whisk, shoe shining solution, a copy of Teen Beat magazine and the L Word on dvd. And now a jar of hummus.

After getting in the line, she picked up the box of cookies that were standing in front of the register and looked on the back. There were some careful marks there, and with a tick of her pen there was another one. No one ever bought these cookies. There were as many boxes there now as last time. She counted. And marked. They'd been sitting there for two months.

God she loved Walmart at 3 am.

Gaia is a bit on the taller side, lanky but solid. From her own personal opinion on her looks and reactions from other people it is clear that she is pretty but in an unconventional way, not really teenage beauty queen but pretty in her own way. She is blonde with greyish/blue eyes that tend to shift slightly with her mood and time of day. She is not overly trendy of a dresser, lacking the funds to keep herself in high end clothing, more a t-shirts and jeans kind of girl.

Gaia glanced around the room, her eyes still having trouble focusing in on the finer details. She hated the blackouts that occured after some serious ass kicking. She frowned as she took in the room, not recognizing a damn thing. If she hated post fight black outs she hated it even more when she came to in a place she had never been before. Groggily she stood, wrapping her arms around herself. "What the..." she spoke to herself, stepping forward to look out the window. This wasn't where she had been in the city before, far from. Gaia searched her pockets and found her cell phone, quickly dialing Ed's number only to be greeted with a "we're sorry, this number cannot be connected as dialed" message. She frowned and dialed George, the same. With shaking hands she dialed Sam, not that she was ready to talk to him but she needed answers dammit. And again, unable to connect.

Suddenly the events leading up to now filtered back through her. Ella. Ella taking a hit meant for her. Losing everything in one minute. Her Uncle, the one thing she thought was good turning out to be shit just like everything else. Her heart felt raw around the edges just thinking about it, the only feeling that she really had lately. Maybe not being able to get a hold of anyone wasn't a bad thing. Really, what did she have? Ed. Ed who was once again dating evil incarnate, Heather Gannis. Maybe starting over wouldn't be a bad thing, maybe a clean break was what she needed. Away from the people who hurt her, away from all the bad in her life.

Yeah right, she told herself stepping away from the window. You know it's only a matter of time till this gets screwed up too, she couldn't help but think bitterly, sinking back down to the bed.

It may have looked like the Hub, but without the rift it didn't feel like the Hub he knew and loved. Still, if this was what he had to deal with, he'd take the familiar setting over everything else. Seemed strange to speak with Owen and Suzie through the medium of the city-wide boards when they were both in the same building (so to speak) but it did prove to be convenient for fast conversations. Perhaps if, when they all returned to Cardiff, he'd talk to Tosh about installing something for the team to use. There was no sense having something city-wide there, now was it? City-wide and one wrong filter could send the place into a panic. Here, at least, strange occurrences seemed commonplace and no one batted an eye with when it came to the bizarre.

Rubbing his temples, Jack fought the urge to hit his head against the desk. Until they knew what this Lazarus Pit liquid did, he didn't want to be anywhere near it. If it gave immortality or put people back to how they were -- Jack wasn't sure he wanted to know what it could do to him. As he'd once told the Doctor: there had been a time when he wished he could die. Now, though, he'd come to accept his predicament.

Rising from the desk, Jack wound his way through the Hub, fixing himself a cup of coffee from Ianto's station. Jack ignored that slight tug, the annoyance that Ianto wasn't here to fix his coffee. He could almost hear Ianto in the back of his mind, grumbling that Jack dared to touch the station. Just because he jammed the machine one time...

At least his mug was still here. Some semblance of normalcy was not only desired but appreciated. Waiting for the coffee to percolate, Jack kept his mind from wandering too far, focusing on the Pits themselves. And why it was ignoring Owen's attempts to be analysed. Being stumped was not something Jack liked, nor was used to.

Ignoring the groan from the machine (thank god Ianto wasn't here to ream him a new one), Jack grabbed the cup of coffee, and headed down to Owen's station.

Powers: Lestat, being a vampire, has been endowed with certain powers including mind reading, the ability to combust objects, float through air, supernatural strength, and can survive exposure to sunlight.

Writing Sample: Lestat ended the song to an almost deafening roar from the crowd. He laughed into the microphone, raising his arms up, " YES!" he yelled, "DO YOU LOVE ME?!" he yelled to the crowd, receiving an even bigger roar from them, "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" he laughed as they hit him with it again, "THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!" he grabbed the microphone again, the blood pulsing in his ears like some buzz off of drugs, he leaned in, starting in on Redeemer, he'd lost count of how many songs before this, getting lost in the mortal scents, their thoughts all on him as he searched their mind, he paused on one, he couldn't read it, Talemascan, or.....Louis? He searched the crowd, his eyes falling on the Talemascan's, he'd learned to ignore them, then he found the green eyes watching him in amusement Yes, mon amour, I've really fed my ego this time he thought, thrusting himself into the chorus.

He kept scanning the crowd as he belted out the song, he spotted Marius, his oldest mentor, if his heart was beating it would have pounded out of his chest. This was exactly what he had wanted, vampires to come out of the woodwork, see him in all his glory exposing vampires to the masses. He scanned the minds of the crowd as he went through the lyrics of another song, they were all channeled in on him, he felt the glimmer of vampiric minds through the crowds. He stopped at the end of the song to roars from the crowd, "WHO WOULD BE VAMPIRES TONIGHT!" another roar, he laughed into the mike, playing with the crowd, "OH MON DIEU! LOUDER!" it was almost suffocating, the smell of the blood would drive even the sanest of vampires to the brink, mixed with hashish and body fluids it was almost euphoria. He watched Marius for his reaction, laughing again as he shook his head in dismay.

Lestat grabbed the mike, leaning over the front row of the crowd, the scents shooting up his nostrils, setting off nerve endings in his brain telling him to feed. He inhaled humanly, going blind for a moment in the sheer thought of feeding. Almost everyone here would be considered a sinner, the cutters, the murdering biker gangs, oh the feast one could have. He paced across the stage, going into another song as he too note of the black shapes on the horizon.
